We conduct training programs, including outside training, to help women overcome the unique challenges they face at each stage of their careers from junior employee to senior management.
Leadership training

In light of gender gap challenges in Japan, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation has established a Sponsor Program in which executive officers serve as sponsors to ブックメーカー入金不要ボーナス female executive candidates (sponsored individuals) through comprehensive career development assistance. In FY2025, 17 Management Committee members are serving as sponsors for 21 candidates. Also, in order to raise the number of female candidates for management at SMBC Nikko Securities, we have launched a mentoring program called “Tag” for non-management employees. Approximately 300 female employees have participated in the program to date.
Aiming to train the next generation of executives, we annually conduct the “Women’s Leader Program Next,” a training program for select female employees. It provides opportunities to acquire business skills, such as the high degree of vision required of management executives and the thinking skills needed to make critical decisions for the organization. Following the training, female employees can interact with past participants, and there is an opportunity for them to hear directly from the upper management and other executives about their expectations.
